The 2024 Severance Wrestling Club Casino Night Started out fun, and got even better as the night wore on! THANK YOU to all that came to make the first one a GREAT one!
On the evening of November 1, 2024, the Severance Wrestling Club hosted its first-ever Casino Night, and it was nothing short of incredible! The Windsor Legion Hall buzzed with excitement as supporters, friends, family, and community members gathered to enjoy a night filled with games, friendly competition, and the spirit of giving. With approximately 50 players in attendance, the energy was high, the atmosphere electric, and the stakes were raised to support our young athletes.
The Games Begin
From the moment the doors opened, attendees were greeted with a welcoming ambiance. Decked out with casino tables, chips, and professional dealers, the Legion was transformed into a mini–Las Vegas for the evening. Players had the chance to try their luck at blackjack, poker, roulette, and more, with each table drawing a lively crowd. It didn’t take long for people to get into the competitive spirit, as laughter and cheers echoed around the room.
Everyone came ready to play, and it showed. With a $50 entry fee, each participant received $500 in chips to start the night. As players honed their strategies and began to rack up (or lose!) their chips, the excitement was palpable. For those who wanted a second chance, a buy-in option kept the tables buzzing with activity. Some guests even surprised themselves with newfound card skills, adding to the lighthearted fun of the night.

From autographed jerseys to international hunting trips and everything in between, casino night participants had a multitude of choices of things to take home with them, all while benefiting the Severance Wrestling Club!
The Highlight: Silent Auction Success
While the casino games drew a steady crowd, the Silent Auction was a showstopper in its own right. Thanks to the generosity of our incredible donors, we were able to feature an array of unique items and experiences that drew in eager bidders. From luxury vacation packages to sports tickets, wellness treatments, and gift certificates, there was something for everyone.
The auction was intense, with attendees scrambling to place their final bids before time ran out. Friends and families competed good-naturedly over their favorite items, all with the goal of supporting the wrestling club. By the end of the night, the Silent Auction had raised an impressive $3,000 for the club. It was heartwarming to see such enthusiastic participation, knowing every dollar would go towards supporting our wrestlers and giving them the opportunities they deserve.
A Night of Community and Support
One of the most remarkable aspects of the night was the sense of community that filled the room. People didn’t just come to play—they came to support. Seeing friends and neighbors rally together, not only to have fun but to make a positive impact, was inspiring. Conversations flowed, new friendships were formed, and stories of wrestling victories and challenges were shared, strengthening the bond within our Severance community.
The night wasn’t just about raising funds; it was a celebration of everyone who makes Severance Wrestling possible—the players, their families, the coaches, and the supporters who believe in the power of this sport. We couldn’t be prouder to be part of such a dedicated and supportive community.
Gratitude for Our Donors and Volunteers
An event of this magnitude wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity of our donors and the hard work of our volunteers. A heartfelt thank you goes out to each business, family, and individual who donated items for the auction, contributed financially, or helped bring this vision to life. A list of those donors is at the bottom of this article, so PLEASE patronize the businesses and people that went out of their way to give to this event!
Special thanks also go to our volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the night ran smoothly. From organizing the auction to handling registration and everything in between, their dedication was invaluable.
Looking Ahead: Building on Success
The success of this inaugural Casino Night has set the stage for what we hope will become an annual event. We are already filled with ideas and excitement for next year’s Casino Night, aiming to make it even bigger and better. The funds raised from this event will directly benefit the Severance Wrestling Club by supporting travel expenses, equipment, training opportunities, and more, helping our athletes reach new heights.
As we reflect on this unforgettable night, we are overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone who attended, donated, or volunteered. Together, we have laid the foundation for a stronger future for Severance Wrestling, one that gives our athletes the resources and support they need to excel.
Thank you for making our first Casino Night such a memorable success. Here’s to many more nights filled with community, excitement, and support for the Severance Wrestling Club!
