SHS and SMS Wrestlers are SCARY good at RMN Monster Match!

Among the Field at the Nov. 2, 2024 RMN Monster Match, were Severance Middle School Wrestlers Madi Mcelmeel, Brayden Lucier, Jaxson Seifert and Malia Bornhoft.
Athletes that will be wrestling for Severance High School and Severance Middle School in the coming months took to the mats on Saturday, November 2 to be a part of the Monster Match tournament, showcasing some incredible talent and resilience across various weight classes and age groups. Here’s a recap of the standout performances from our wrestlers, each of whom brought determination and grit to the mat.
SEVERANCE HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLERS:
Jaxon Felker (15U, 123 lbs)
Jaxon, the lone Severance High School wrestler in the field today (wrestling under his Bear Cave Wrestling Club association) battled his way to an impressive 3rd place finish despite a shoulder injury in the semifinals. His journey began with a bye in the first round, followed by a dominant 15-0 tech fall over Xzaveier West in the second round. In a tightly contested third-round match, Jaxon edged out Alex Herburger with a 4-3 decision. He fought hard in the semifinals but narrowly lost to Maddax Hacking, 12-10. Bouncing back in the consolation semis, Jaxon secured a 10-0 major decision over Cameron Sipp and claimed 3rd place with a commanding 14-3 major decision against Joshua Ternes. Jaxon’s performance displayed incredible resilience, even through adversity.
SEVERANCE MIDDLE SCHOOL WRESTLERS:
Brayden Lucier (13U, 95 lbs)
Brayden earned a well-deserved 2nd place after an outstanding showing in his bracket. Following a bye in the first round, he pinned Imauri Eikenberry in his second-round match. Though he fell to Drew Wright, the eventual champion, in the semifinals, Brayden fought his way back. He scored a 14-2 major decision over Arturo Rangel in the consolation semifinals, followed by a fall over Jarrell Walsh in the 3rd place bout. He closed out the tournament with an 8-0 major decision over Amarri Kern to secure 2nd place. Brayden’s resilience and skill in the consolation rounds were truly commendable.
Liam Felker (12U, 98 lbs)
Liam demonstrated technical prowess and impressive control on his path to the finals, where he ultimately took 2nd place. His run included pins over Ethan Ingelhart, Braxton Belisle, and Jordyn Abernathy, showing his dominance in each match. In the finals, Liam faced Hays Ingram and put up a strong fight but fell short. His performance revealed his growing potential, and he will undoubtedly be a force in the upcoming middle school season (SWC-MONSTER MATCH NOTES).
Uriah Lambert (12U, 74 lbs)
Uriah had a challenging but valuable experience at the tournament. After a bye in the Round of 16, he faced Gavin Wright of the Natrona Colts, ultimately losing in a close 5-0 decision to the eventual 2nd place finisher. In the consolation round, he wrestled hard but fell to Brody Romero in a tight 4-2 decision. Uriah’s growth and effort are evident, and he is set to make an impact as the season progresses).
Malia Bornhoft (15U, 136 lbs)
Malia showed her skills with a solid performance in the round-robin format, securing three pins in her first three rounds. She pinned Isabella Pouza in just 53 seconds, then took down Ciara Navarrete and Alexa Tweeten with falls in the second and first periods, respectively. She put up a great fight against Scarlett Yeager of Maize Wrestling Club but fell in a close 4-1 decision. With sound technique and focus, Malia promises to be a formidable competitor in the season ahead.
Jaxon Seifert (13U, 130 lbs)
Jaxon’s round-robin matches demonstrated his potential and competitive spirit. He won his first match with a 3-0 decision over Isaac Ness of Team Braves. After a tough loss by fall to Austin Martin of Nebraska Boys, Jaxon rebounded with an impressive 16-1 tech fall over Asher Navratil of Athlos Wrestling Club. With his fighting spirit and attention to detail, Jaxon is set for a successful season).
Madi Mcelmeel (15U, 109 lbs)
Madi had a tough draw but showed incredible heart and focus. She faced Reanna Spangler in the Round of 16 and lost by tech fall. In the consolation round, she fought hard but was narrowly defeated by Capri Sayer in a 13-10 decision. Despite the challenges, Madi’s resilience and dedication to improvement were clear, and she’s sure to show growth as the season unfolds.
As all of these wrestlers prepare for the upcoming High School and/or middle school seasons, it is exciting to see how well they are doing in highly competitive and challenging tournaments leading into an exciting ‘24-’25 scholastic season! Congrats to all on a great weekend!
