Severance Wrestling Takes on the Rockwell Rumble
The Severance High School wrestling team traveled to Herriman, Utah, to compete in the Rockwell Rumble, one of the toughest tournaments of the season. With top competition from multiple states, the Silver Knights showcased their skill and determination. Four wrestlers climbed onto the podium, and every athlete left it all on the mat. Top Placers: Leading the Charge
Drake VomBaur (113 lbs): The Champion
Drake VomBaur delivered an absolute masterclass, dominating his way to a 1st-place finish in a loaded bracket.
Round 2: After a bye, Drake scored a 20-2 tech fall over Amin Rahimi (West) in just 2:31.
Round 3: Followed up with a pin over Carlo Esoldo (Shadow Ridge) in 3:03.
Quarterfinal: Secured a hard-fought 6-2 decision against Ben Belliston (Timpanogos).
Semifinal: Pinned Destin Maestas (Slam) in 3:53, sending a message to the finals.
1st Place Match: Capped it off with a dominant 10-2 major decision over Aiden Bastian (Layton) to claim the gold.
